It has been 10 days since Barack Obama was declared the 44th President of the United States and I am still processing it! It seems so BIG to me. So miraculous! But -- conditioned by the debacle of the 2000 election and the disappointment in 2004 and deliriously happy about the 2008 outcome -- I still can't find the words to write about it. So for now, I offer this cartoon from the November 17, 1008 New Yorker magazine as a placeholder.

I think I need that shrink! I am still flying high from the wonderful election results but still find myself running to the computer to check the news or watching far too much MSNBC/CNN/BBC.
I feel apprehensive at times that our joy is just some sort of hallucination. As a country we need stand behind this great man and work as hard as he will have to work to bring us back from the brink. It is fun to feel good about being an American again. That is something that I haven't felt for decades-not since RFK.
